SUMMER BLOCKBUSTER FLICKS

DISCLOSURE DAY
PG-13
Steven Spielberg may be turning 80 in 2026, but the three-time Oscar winner hasn’t missed a step yet, still making movies that we all want to see on the big screen. “Disclosure Day” is the famed director’s first science-fiction flick since “War of the Worlds” in 2005, and this time he’s the one who came up with the story. The plot is being kept under wraps, but we know that Emily Blunt, Colin Firth, Josh O’Connor, Eve Hewson and Colman Domingo star and that it’s a fast-paced tale of alien visitors being on planet earth.

MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE

Now the Gen X and Millennial generations have their chance to return to their childhoods (and take their own kids along) in movie theaters to see this nostalgic return. Starring Nicolas Galitzine as the young man living on earth who discovers he’s from another planet and must return there to save it from the evil Skeletor (Jared Leto). With Idris Elba, Alison Brie, Kristen Wiig and Camila Mendes along for the adventure, this one’s made as much for the parents as it is for their tweener kids

SCARY MOVIE

The Wayans clan is back, returning to one of their biggest hits – and even calling it the same thing. The first “Scary Movie” hit 26 years ago, followed by four sequels; this one’s a sequel, too, but with many of the original cast back, including Anna Faris, Anthony Anderson, Cheri Oteri and Regina King, plus Marlon, Shawn and Kim Wayans. It’s still the same formula, a horror movie spoof of all the most popular recent horror movies, centering around Ghostface, a very bad guy named Ghostface. If you loved the original, this one’s for you.

In this adventure, she’s roaming the galaxy with her dog Krypto, while celebrating her birthday. Not surprisingly, things go wrong and she’s forced to use her superpowers to fight an evil menace. Watch for David Corenswet as Superman, Jason Momoa as Lobo and David Krumholtz as Supergirl’s dad in this special-effects laden superhero flick.

TOY STORY 5
PG
This is the one we’ve all been waiting for, as the wonderful Pixar “Toy Story” saga continues, helmed by Andrew Stanton, the mind behind the beloved franchise. In this latest chapter about the toys who are led by Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Jessie, there’s a new danger to the toys keeping kids happy and imaginative. That’s an electronic pad known as Lily Pad (voiced by Greta Lee), who is luring attention away from the joy of simply playing. Brought to life by the voices of Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack and more (Keanu Reeves, John Ratzenberger, Wallace Shawn and Annie Potts, the toys must find a way to live with technology. We know they will succeed!
